Introducing Anacortes Chiropractor Dr. Ben Jennings
I had no idea what this chiropractic “thing” was about. I didn't know that it had any relevance to overall health until I took a closer look.
My first personal experience with a chiropractor came in the summer of 1970 when I strained my back at my summer job and went to see Dr. Kenneth Pack, the doctor that my parents had used.
Of course I was expecting to see a “back doctor” but didn't have much more expectation. I noticed a sign at the front desk that said,
“The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patients in the care of the human frame, in diet, and in the cause and prevention of disease.” -Thomas Edison.
I told Dr. Pack that I found that statement rather interesting due to my background. My education had been in Agricultural Science/ Business at that time as I was attending Abilene Christian College on a football scholarship. I had a special interest in ecology and the study of ecosystems.
Dr. Pack described how our bodies are an ecosystem and that they are self-healing and self-regulating; able to heal from so many diseases only if we can remove those interferences that alter their functioning. That appealed to me so much that I decided to continue my education in chiropractic, going on to graduate from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa.
