What do Chiropractors do?
As a chiropractor, I save and restore life's expression of health by enhancing
the function of the nervous system.
My task is to identify those areas of interference and help you to restore that
expression as much as possible, thus allowing your body to normalize (return to a healthy state).
Symptoms and Treatments
Adults often come in with symptoms that “just show up” with seemingly NO cause.
After living with uncorrected spinal injuries for years, it takes very little stress to
bring the condition to a symptomatic state.
(When does a tooth decay produce pain; when the erosion begins
or when the nerve root is exposed?) That means that most people are walking around
with conditions right now that are waiting to become symptomatic. Chiropractors are
trained to find them before they start presenting symptoms. If you think that
“you're not broken” just because you don't have pain, you may be in for a big surprise.
In what case scenario does prevention not work better than waiting for crisis?
What are symptoms and what is important about them?
In listing a series of symptoms and conditions,
people often become confused in thinking that chiropractors
are treating such symptoms. As an example, if you have a nerve irritation from a
dysfunctional neck vertebra, this may result in arm and hand pain or numbness. While, we may find
functional problems and weakness in the arm, the real correction occurs after the nerve is restored
at the neck vertebra. A tissue (such as a muscle or any organ) is never healthier nor stronger than
it's nerve supply. You may receive wonderful recovery and never have your arm treated.
Just as the arm depends on a healthy nerve supply for its health, so does every tissue of your body.
Gray's Anatomy, the standard anatomy text used by most health professionals in the U.S. , says that the purpose of
the nervous system is to control and co-ordinate all other tissues of the body and to help you to
adapt to your environment.
Thus, when a chiropractor adjusts your nervous system via your spine,
he is enhancing normalization of your body. That means that every part of you can be benefited by
improved nerve function; everything from your strength to your immune system.
Treatment in chiropractic offices is usually synonymous
with spinal correction.
A correction is an “adjustment” to enhance nerve function.
There are many methods used in my office.
Each patient warrants a unique procedure for their particular set of conditions.
